July 2007

This summer, the Center will host three lectures and nine faculty-led discussion groups as a part of the 2007 Biomedical Research Integrity series. The series, which is a collaboration with the University of Washington, begins Tuesday, July 10, from 2-3 p.m. in Pelton Auditorium, with "Conflict of Interest: Opportunities Abound." Speaker Dr. John Slattery is vice dean of Research and Graduate Education at the UW. Slattery will address the need to think beyond formal rules towards clear conceptions of professional responsibility in situations where integrity may be at risk.

The following lectures will take place this summer:

All postdoctoral and clinical fellows and graduate students are required to attend five lectures or events and at least one case-study discussion. While faculty and staff members are invited to the lectures, discussion groups are reserved for postdocs and graduate students.

To register online for faculty-led case study discussion groups, visit the ethics-event schedule on the intranet. The summer lecture schedule can be found there as well. To learn more, contact Lee Strucker, lstrucke@fhcrc.org or (206) 667-1247.
