Learn about "Moving Beyond Cancer to Wellness" during the first general-education event for the Hutchinson Center's Survivorship Program Saturday, June 23, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. in Pelton Auditorium.
The event begins with a continental breakfast and a keynote address from Doug Ulman, cancer survivor and president of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Attendees will be able to choose among breakout sessions focusing on topics of interest to cancer survivors, such as cognitive function/memory, fear of recurrence, fatigue/pain, insurance, employment issues and survivorship research. Seattle Cancer Care Alliance staff will offer tours of the facility and unveil plans for the expanded SCCA Resource Center.
The event's closing session and luncheon features former Center transplant patient Bob Kiesendahl, recipient of the 2006 LIVESTRONG survivor award from the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
The Survivorship Program, a member of the LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center of Excellence Network, provides clinical care and access to research, centered upon the emotional, physical and practical issues that people living with cancer face. The Lance Armstrong Foundation supports the services provided through the Hutchinson Center and SCCA.
Registration for "Moving Beyond Cancer to Wellness" is free but required. Center faculty and staff are welcome to attend. For those interested in helping, volunteers are needed for registration, set-up and to serve as guides the day of the event.
