Faculty openings in two divisions
Recruitment is under way for several faculty positions in the Center's Human Biology and Clinical Research divisions. Human Biology Division
- Two junior faculty positions
The Human Biology Division seeks to fill two junior faculty positions with outstanding candidates who use genomic, proteomic, genetic and/or other innovative approaches to study the pathogenesis of cancer or other human diseases. The division encourages applicants with a particular interest in translational research. The application deadline is Oct. 31.

Clinical Research Division
- Hematologic Malignancy Transplant
The Clinical Research Division and the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Washington are seeking a physician in the clinician scholar/teacher pathway. The select individual should enhance the Center and UW’s clinical care and clinical research program in hematopoietic-cell transplantation. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in hematopoietic cell transplantation as well as an active clinical research interest, as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications, in the application of transplantation to the treatment of human disease. The primary appointment will be at the Center, with a joint full-time faculty position appointment at the assistant, associate or member/professor level at the UW, commensurate with qualifications and experience. UW faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The position will remain open until filled.

- Molecular Immunologist
The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Institute and Clinical Research Division invite applications for a faculty position at the assistant member level. Preference will go to those who study molecular immunology as it relates to HIV vaccines, pathogenesis and mucosal immunology. M.D. or Ph.D. qualifications are requirements. The individual will develop an independent research program. Excellent collaborations with scientists in clinical, molecular medicine and basic sciences at the Center and UW are available. Application review will continue until the position is filled.

- HVTN Associate Director
The HIV Vaccine Trials Network is currently recruiting a full-time faculty position at the associate or full-member level to be a central figure in HIV Vaccine Trials Network leadership. This is an opportunity to help direct a global-vaccine network, as well as build either a laboratory-based or infectious disease epidemiology research program in global health-related vaccines. This person will work with the HVTN leadership to facilitate interaction with other clinical research programs globally and locally. The successful candidate must have an M.D. or a Ph.D. with experience as a clinical investigator in HIV medicine or viral vaccines. The candidate should also have experience establishing an independently funded research program. Application review will continue until the position is filled.

- Infectious Disease - Mycology
The Center and UW jointly seek to fill a full-time faculty position at the assistant or associate member/professor level for a faculty position in the Program in Infectious Diseases in the Clinical Research Division at the Center and the Division of Allergy and Infectious Disease at the UW. Preference will go to those who study fungal diseases. The individual, who must have an M.D. or Ph.D., will develop independent research programs.

- Immunotherapy - Physician/Scientist
A position is available for a physician/scientist interested in immunotherapeutic approaches to the treatment of human malignancy. Priority will be given to applicants with experience in preclinical models with translation to clinical trials, particularly in the treatment of human solid tumors. This position will also involve opportunities to participate in the instructional activities of the division.
This is a full-time faculty position based at the Hutchinson Center at the assistant, associate or member level, with a joint appointment at the UW at the assistant, associate or professor level. Requirements include an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D.

- Pediatric Oncologist
The Center and the UW Department of Pediatrics seek a physician for an appointment as assistant, associate, or full member/assistant, associate or full professor in the physician/scientist pathway. This should demonstrate productivity in the biology of childhood solid tumors and is expected to enhance research activities in pediatric oncology at the Hutchinson Center and Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center. The successful candidate will have laboratory space in the Clinical Research Division. Rank will be commensurate with experience. The search will remain open until an appointment is made.

- Physician/Scientists (two positions)
Joint Center and UW recruitment is under way for two full-time faculty members specializing in clinical translational sarcoma research and the clinical care of patients with sarcoma. One position is for the leader of the program and will be at the associate or full professor level (physician/scientist pathway). The second position will be at the assistant or associate professor level. Requirements include M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and fellowship training in medical oncology. The candidates should have experience and expertise in clinical research and a primary interest and experience in sarcoma. The selected candidates will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing funded laboratory and clinical research programs related to the biology and therapy of sarcoma. In addition, they will have the opportunity and resources to develop their own clinical translational research programs. The positions will remain open until filled.

- Breast Cancer Researcher
An M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. physician/scientist (any level) position with active laboratory research and clinical expertise in a breast cancer-related discipline is open. Candidates with translational-research interests and a desire to join a strong cross-disciplinary research team in breast cancer are encouraged. A joint appointment may be made to other Center divisions and to the full-time faculty in an appropriate department at the UW.

- Cytogenetics Laboratory Director
The Center and SCCA seek a director of the Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory. Primary responsibilities include review of cases and sign-off on all reports, oversight of personnel, and the introduction of new technologies to maintain up-to-date protocols. Approximately 40 percent of work time is protected for research, with ample opportunities for collaboration and access to outstanding core facilities. Ph.D. or M.D. candidates must be board-eligible/certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics in Clinical Cytogenetics.
