Center News

September 2007

The Student/Postdoc Advisory Committee has announced the creation of an award that honors the memory and mentorship legacy of Dr. Jim McDougall. A founding member of the Basic Sciences Division and faculty member from 1978-2003, McDougall was highly regarded as an excellent mentor to those in his lab. The McDougall Faculty Mentoring Award celebrates faculty members who demonstrate a similar dedication to and enthusiasm for mentoring their graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and/or medical fellows.

Any Hutchinson Center graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, medical fellow or lab technician may nominate a faculty member for the award. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Sept. 21. SPAC board members will review the nominations and announce the name of the 2007 recipient at the annual SPAC holiday party in December.

Criteria for nomination:

The application must contain a statement and specific examples or stories about why the nominee would be a worthy recipient.

For an application form and more information, contact Dr. Karen Peterson, SPAC adviser, at (206) 667-5319, kpeterso@fhcrc.org or mail stop C3-168.

The SPAC represents the interests of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and medical fellows at the Center in obtaining the best education possible for their future careers.
