Dr. Elahe Mostaghel, research associate in the Human Biology and Clinical Research divisions, is one of four recipients of the Prostate Cancer Foundation's $50,000 Donald S. Coffey Career Development Award.
The award is named for Dr. Donald Coffey, of The Johns Hopkins University, often referred to as the "father" of prostate-cancer research.
Dr. Pete Nelson, associate head of the Program in Prostate Cancer Research, nominated Mostaghel. In his letter of recommendation, Nelson said Mostaghel's research project on the effectiveness of testosterone suppression on prostate cells would greatly enhance understanding of the role of androgens in prostate-cancer genesis, prevention and treatment.
