There is still time to form a team and sign up for United Way's annual Day of Caring. Last year, 57 employees from the Center and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance volunteered for a variety of community service projects. Among them, the combined Center and SCCA team of Rhonda Ellis (left), Linda Atkins, Bruce Busby, Dawn Asselin, Matt Lundgren, Debbie Shiozaki, Candy Kahklen, Judith Davies, Ron Clark and Nancy Johnson.

There's still time to sign up for United Way's 16th annual Day of Caring. Join thousands of your friends, neighbors and colleagues Friday, Sept. 21, in making a lasting impact at nonprofits, schools and parks around King County.
Day of Caring provides the opportunity for individuals to come together in teams that will span out and tackle more than 300 projects — in a single day. For example, your group might serve a meal at a homeless shelter, spruce up a day care center or repair a hiking trail.
Staff and faculty are encouraged to form teams and sign up for their choice of projects. Last year, 57 employees from the Center and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance volunteered. The Center provides a regular day of pay for participation; however, workloads and schedules vary, so before signing up, check with your supervisor and work group.
Day of Caring starts with a kick-off celebration at 7:30 a.m. at the Seattle Center. Enjoy a continental breakfast, live music and games and pick up your Volunteer Care Package full of helpful tools and treats to get you through the day. Plus, enter for a chance to win prizes, including a cruise for two on the Holland America line.
For more information about the program or to volunteer, contact Tess Hurley, Day of Caring team coordinator, at thurley@fhcrc.org or (206) 667-6970.
