Governor Signs Colon Cancer Bill

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center applauds the Washington Legislature and Gov. Christine Gregoire, respectively, for passing and signing SHB 1337, a bill that mandates insurance coverage for colon-cancer screening in Washington.

SCCA Mammography Van

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance will be gaining a digital mobile mammography clinic, thanks to an $800,000 donation from Safeway Inc. The van, one of few digital mobile clinics in Seattle, will be equipped with the latest in digital mammography equipment, allowing mammograms to be transmitted by satellite to physicians. It will serve area women who might not otherwise have access to a mammogram or the latest technology.

Lindberg Student Receives Summer Internship

Bridgette Smith a junior at Lindbergh High School in Renton received a summer internship in public health sciences through the Summer Training Program. Each summer approximately six highly motivated local high school students work in laboratories at the Hutchinson Center FHCRC for a summer research internship.
