When cancer strikes, you may start thinking about your health insurance in a new light. Chances are you will use your health insurance more than ever before. You also may have more problems with insurance than ever before. Therefore it is critical that you know and understand your rights and responsibilities under your health insurance plan.

This edition of "Survive and Thrive" features information about the insurance rights of cancer survivors. Hopefully you will find this information useful in advocating for your insurance needs.

Exercise and Thrive

Beginning in April 2008 the Hutchinson Center Survivorship Program will offer a 10-week strength-and-fitness program, called Exercise and Thrive, for people who have completed cancer treatment.

Future issues of this newsletter will focus on the variety of long-term and late effects associated with cancer survivorship. Upcoming issues will include information on the following topics:

Fatigue: many people think that fatigue is something that survivors only experience during treatment. This is not true.

Sexual dysfunction: sexuality changes are one of the most common problems that remain long after treatment has ended.
