Swanson family will double your gift until June 30

Gerald SwansonThere is still time to double your donation to Fred Hutchinson's pediatric-cancer programs through the generous matching gift from Gerald and Gloria Swanson.

Every dollar you donate will be matched by the Swansons, up to a total of $100,000. For example, a $50 donation will become $100 for children's cancer research. Since last fall, more than 1,500 people have donated more than $80,000 toward the Swanson match.

If you haven't done so already, please consider making a donation to help us reach the $100,000 goal. The matching opportunity ends June 30.

"More funding is needed to explore new research avenues and stop the suffering of children facing cancer," said Gerald Swanson, a longtime Fred Hutchinson supporter and former chair of the board of trustees. "We hope that by doubling all gifts to pediatric oncology, the outcome for children will rapidly improve - sooner rather than later."

To donate, use the envelope inside this issue of Quest. Designate your gift to "pediatric oncology" in the memo line of your check and on the envelope.

Is it time to revamp your estate plan?

Once you have established your estate plan, it is tempting to file it away until it is needed. Instead, your will, letters of instruction and documents need to be reviewed regularly over the years. Changes in your personal circumstances, your financial objectives or the tax laws are inevitable.

An estate plan may involve:

It is a good idea to review your estate plan every few years or after the occurrence of significant life events such as marriage, divorce, retirement, death of a spouse or life partner, or the birth of a child. Even if you haven't experienced any of these events since you last updated your plan, there may have been changes in tax laws, changes in your financial situation, or philanthropic interests that necessitate a re-evaluation.

When you review your estate plan, we hope that you will consider a planned gift to benefit Fred Hutchinson.
