In 1999, Bonnie and Jim Towne made a $1 million challenge gift to the Hutchinson Center aimed to attract new donors and increase giving by current donors.

Bonnie remarked, "Jim and I feel truly blessed to be able to make our contribution to match the $1 million raised from the donations of hundreds of families throughout Puget Sound. Our sole motivation is to help raise the funds necessary to continue the important and lifesaving work of the center."

While the challenge was to last 18 months, the matching $1 million was raised in just four months' time.

"We're ecstatic," Bonnie said. "We knew people were passionate about the Hutch, but we had no idea the challenge would be met so quickly."
