About the Program
At Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, home to three Nobel laureates, interdisciplinary teams of world-renowned scientists seek new and innovative ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases. Fred Hutch’s pioneering work in bone marrow transplantation led to the development of immunotherapy, which harnesses the power of the immune system to treat cancer with minimal side effects. An independent, nonprofit research institute based in Seattle, Fred Hutch houses the nation’s first and largest cancer prevention research program, as well as the clinical coordinating center of the Women’s Health Initiative and the international headquarters of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network. For more information please visit www.fredhutch.org.
We have two areas where students will be utilizing their social media marketing skills and experience:
Located at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, the Solid Tumor Translational Research (STTR, www.nwsttr.org) program is comprised of investigators from four leading Northwest institutions - Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, UW Medicine, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Our multidisciplinary, multi-institutional team uses state-of-the-art technology and scientific innovation to turn laboratory findings, population studies and clinical insights into clinical practice. The goals of the program are to enhance the understanding of cancer biology and therapeutic responses and to identify personalized treatments that improve patient outcomes.
We are currently seeking a graduate level Social Media Marketing intern to develop unique web content and utilize social media to connect with a new generation of people who should be thinking about health and science as a potential career, and/or gaining knowledge about cancer prevention and early detection to help their communities, families and networks. Our intern will interact with top scientists and clinicians in the field to help highlight Fred Hutch’s presence as one of the top cancer research centers nationwide, and to increase international awareness of our organization. The intern will create and contribute content to the website, optimize website functionality, post and monitor content via various social networks including Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, and use social networks for outreach and promotional campaigns.
Our mission as the Recruiting team is to support Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in our most important asset – our people. We attract, engage, and develop diverse, passionate, world-class talent to further the mission of our organizations.
