In January 2001, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) became the patient care arm for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, UW Medicine, and Seattle Children’s. Together, they form the Pacific Northwest’s only federally designated comprehensive cancer center.
The number of patients seen at SCCA has grown annually by almost 40 percent since 2001 to 25,211 in 2010. To meet this increase, the number of employees has more than doubled to 973.
In 2013, SCCA will open the region's first Proton Therapy Center on the campus of Northwest Hospital & Medical Center as well as a new patient care clinic in Kirkland.
According to the National Cancer Data Base Survival Reports, SCCA patients generally have better outcomes than patients treated at other cancer treatment centers.
We are recognized internationally as leaders in the fight against cancer. Some of the world's best surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and pathologists work here. An expert team of doctors and nurses offer patients the most advanced care and the best outcomes available anywhere.
