Hutchinson Institute for Cancer Outcomes Research
The Hutchinson Institute for Cancer Outcomes (HICOR) is hosting the Value in Cancer Care Summit on January 24, 2014. The Summit is co-sponsored by HICOR and members of the Value in Cancer Care Initiative, a regional consortium of cancer care providers and payers engaged in promoting a dialogue on the topic of value in oncology. The day-long working meeting will include representatives of cancer care delivery systems throughout Washington State.
One of the primary goals of the Summit is to identify 3-5 clinically-actionable metrics that signify high value cancer care and can be reported for the region. As a starting point, the Organizing Committee has identified several domains that could be included in value metrics, along with cost. These may serve as starting points for discussion at the Summit:
The short term goal is to build consensus around a few select metrics that are meaningful for the region, feasible and efficient to collect, and actionable. The longer term goal is to build a stakeholder-driven regional process that continually improves the value of cancer care provided to our patients.
