Public Health Sciences
The Carlson Group uses genetic epidemiology to investigate the genetic risk factors of diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular and neurological disease. The group identifies statistical correlations between variations and disease. The group's molecular biology laboratory is then equipped to assess the molecular mechanisms behind these correlations. Recently, the lab has played a significant role in development of technologies for adaptive immune system profiling, in collaboration with Harlan Robins and Hootie Warren.
