The faculty who specialize in biostatistics research aim to: 1) conduct research in statistical methodology for the design and analysis of clinical, epidemiological and basic science studies; and 2) conduct research into biologically based mathematical models for pathogenesis. SCHARP, the Statistical Center for HIV/AIDS Research and Prevention, is a program housed within VIDD that provides services such as data collection, analysis and clinical trial management to collaborators worldwide. This program’s unique services have had far-reaching impacts on a number of HIV vaccine development trials and have played an integral role in these ground-breaking studies.
