Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division
The clinical sciences-based faculty focuses primarily on employing clinical trials for the advancement of understanding infectious diseases. Pathogens of interest include viruses (e.g., HIV, HSV-2, HHV8, and CMV), fungal pathogens such as Aspergillus spp. and the Mucorales and infection-related cancers. These studies focus primarily on diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive measures, and collaborations between clinical scientists and basic researchers provide a unique and invaluable opportunity to utilize patient specimen repositories and data in biomedical research.
