Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division
HIV/AIDS research is by nature an interdisciplinary field and VIDD faculty are working to explore new methodologies and innovative approaches with the ultimate goal of preventing this global pandemic. The HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN), a program within VIDD, focuses on the testing of candidate HIV vaccines and integrates basic science, epidemiological methods and statistical analyses into its research program with the aim of defining correlates of protection of an efficacious vaccine. In addition to vaccine studies, the diversity in VIDD faculty research interests includes HIV genomic heterogeneity, preventive therapy, co-infections, immunological response, vaccine design and basic virology.
