Millions of people take vitamin supplements. Why? What are the risks and benefits? Why not just eat more fruits and vegetables? These questions and more will be answered at a free community lecture on Tuesday, May 16, at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
Dr. Ruth Patterson will present, "Vitamin Supplements: Can Popping A Pill Reduce Your Cancer Risk?" A lecture addressing the evidence confirming the benefits of eating fruits and vegetable and the reduction in cancer risk. Patterson will also discuss the more recent knowledge gained about vitamin supplements and cancer risk. Can eating fruits and vegetable be replaced by taking supplements? She will explain how eating fruits and vegetable are known to prevent cancers such as oral, stomach and colon, and you may or may not get the same effect from supplements.
