Patient & Family Stories

There was a time when Robert Strom couldn't even imagine that he would ever see grandchildren, much less great-grandchildren. In 1985, when he had just turned 45, he was told he had chronic myeloid leukemia and was expected to live no more than a year. At the time, he said, he was told he was too old to receive a bone marrow transplant.
