Elementary Family Member Program

There are two classes in the Elementary Family Member Program. One class includes students who are in grades kindergarten through third grade. The other class has fourth through eighth grade students. Classes meet from 9:00 a.m. until noon, Monday through Thursday.

With small class sizes and many volunteer tutors, students not only are able to keep up, in spite of the limited class hours, but often return home ahead of their home school classes.

It is helpful for the students to arrive with their home school math textbook and ideally, with an accompanying answer key. Activities in the other academic areas are planned by the Hutch School teacher. If there is concern about completing class requirements for the home school, feel free to discuss this with the teacher. Of course, students are allowed to bring other textbooks. All programs are worked out according to the needs of the student, balancing both their academic needs and the stresses surrounding the circumstances of being here.

When students enroll, the home schools are informed. When they return home, their Hutch School teachers write reports describing academic activities and accomplishments, and provide grades when appropriate.
