High School Family Member Program

High School family members meet several times a week as a group. During this time students are tutored in their home school subjects, as well as asked to participate in group learning activities. Usually high school students also meet outside of these class times with volunteer tutors who have areas of expertise that match the students' class schedules. Frequently, we take field trips to both fun and educational locations in the city.

Close contact is kept with the home school to assure that there are no lost credits and that appropriate course work is being followed. Often it is more appropriate for an alternative course to be designed to accommodate the extraordinary circumstances — acknowledging both the stress on the students lives and the enormous amount they are learning by being in Seattle.

With our ties to Seattle Public Schools and our desire to accommodate our students, we make arrangements for Drivers Ed, SAT tests, Regent’s Exams, and career counseling. We have helped order graduation announcements, had graduation gowns shipped from out-of-state, awarded diplomas and, in general, done whatever was necessary to provide an academically stimulating, fun environment while helping students keep up with necessary school credits.
