Adult Moving Beyond Cancer to Wellness 2009

June 2009

Thank you to those of you who were able to attend our Moving Beyond Cancer to Wellness event on Saturday, June 13, 2009. This free event featured keynote speaker Dr. Daniel Shapiro, cancer survivor and professor at Penn State College of Medicine, as well as breakout sessions led by experts in the fields of nutrition, complementary and alternative medicine, exercise, fatigue and energy, relationships and intimacy, insurance rights, emotional adaptation, cognitive function, bone health, stress management, lymphedema and late effects from cancer treatment.

The event was attended by more than 250 individuals affected by cancer. The post-event evaluations reflected overwhelmingly positive impressions; requests and comments will be considered in planning future events.

Quotes:

"What I liked best was the benefit of having so many resources all in one place. Thank you for remembering the long-term needs of cancer survivors like me."

"Well organized. Great, informed and enthusiastic speakers."

"Thank you for realizing there are continuing issues with cancer treatment that last more than 5 years!"
