Medical Diagnostic Working Group
The Medical Diagnostics working group (MDWG) focuses on methods related to assessment of test accuracy. Because medical diagnosis is essentially a classification task, the broad interests of the MDWG include general issues related to classification. Specific topics include, but are not
limited to, methods for combining multiple tests, methods for assessing tests in the absence of a 'gold standard,' and methods for assessing screening tests. Both analytic and design issues are considered. Clinical colleagues
occasionally join the group to describe the use of particular tests and challenges related to assessment of these tests. Presentations are informal, often of work in progress, and occasionally include an organized discussion of published work.
Meetings
We currently meet the third Wednesday of every month, 1:30--3:00, at either the FHCRC or UW campus. Topics could be your own research or a paper from the suggested readings. Archives of past meetings can be found
