CENTER NEWS - THURSDAY, APRIL 17, 1997 FEATURES

City neighborhood planning 'social' due
Thursday, April 24, at Double Helix Cafe

The Center's Double Helix Cafe at South Lake Union will be the site for a "Citywide Social to Network about Neighborhood Planning" from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24.

Sponsored by the City Neighborhood Council and the Seattle City Council Neighborhoods and Neighborhood Planning Committee, the social will examine how a neighborhood can benefit from completing its own plan.

The social will cover "how to get people involved, how to avoid burnout, where to get funds, when to hire, how to manage, and how to minimize paperwork and maximize results," says event coordinator Chris Leman, volunteer for Eastlake Tomorrow and a representative of the Lake Union District Council on the City Neighborhood Council.

Eastlake Tomorrow and the Lake Union District Council are co-hosting the event with the Hutchinson Center, and it is supported by city Neighborhood Planning Office.

Lake Union restaurants will donate food and drink to be served. For more information, contact Leman at 322-5463.
