Summer in the city for lucky 40

CLARA RHIEU (left) loads samples for analysis on a gel during HutchLab last week, as HutchLab program coordinator Caren Brinkema looks on. In two one-week sessions, the second annual staging of the intensive summer science workshop drew 40 students from Puget Sound-area high schools, who learned approaches to exploring and understanding genetic diseases. An offshoot of the Center's Science Education Partnership, HutchLab is supported by a three-year, $750,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health. - Photos courtesy of Science Education Partnership
