The Program in Infectious Diseases (ID) remains an integral part of the Clinical Research Division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center while nurturing an established academic, clinical, and research affiliation with the Virology Division of the University of Washington.
University of Washington - Virology Division
To solidify a relationship and to combine research efforts, the Program in ID
merged administratively with the University of Washington (UW) Virology Division,
a departmental division of the University
of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine within the School of Medicine.
The Program in ID and the Virology Division have shared functions and utility
in central administrative services and support, research, and clinical laboratories,
faculty, scientists, staff, facilities, and other resources. The importance of
the Program in ID's relationship and synergy with the UW Virology is exemplified
by the involvement ID scientists and staff have with the HIV
Vaccine Trials Unit (HVTU), the Virology
Research Clinic, the Hepatitis Program located at Harborview Medical Center,
the HIV Pathogenesis Program at the UW Rosen Building, the Acute
HIV Infection and Early Disease Research Program (AIEDRP) and the UW Virology
Laboratory located at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center.
