Antifungal Drug Resistance to Moulds

Kieren Marr, MD

Research Initiatives:

1.  A. fumigatus antifungal drug resistance.  Antifungal drug resistance is an under-appreciated problem in Aspergillus species.  We have recently identified an azole-resistant variant, which we call A. fumigatus v. lentulus.  Future multi-site studies are being developed to determine the importance of this isolate and to develop rapid antifungal susceptibility testing methods for moulds.
