Research Initiatives:
1. Clinical Studies in fungal infections. Clinical studies are underway and in development, with the focus on preventing fungal infection, which have become leading infections in HSCT recipients. This includes randomized antifungal therapy trials in myelobative and non-myelobative transplant recipients, and multiple studies to determine performance characteristics and optimal testing methods for new diagnostic assays.
2. Epidemiology of Invasive Fungal Infections (IFI) in HSCT patients.
A database has been created to identify IFIs in our institution, dating back to 1985. Multiple studies are
underway to understand infections risks.
