Dr. McElrath is the Principal Investigator of the FHCRC/University of Washington HIV Vaccine Trials Unit (HVTU) research program. The HVTU is one of ten centers nation-wide that is funded to carry out phase I, II, and III HIV vaccine trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of candidate HIV vaccines.
