Chemotherapy
Chemicals used for chemotherapy generally seem to inhibit cell division and lead
to cell death. Cancer cells, which are actively dividing, are affected by these
drugs but other dividing cells in the body are affected as well. Chemotherapeutic
drugs have a greater effect on cancer cells than on normal cells, but it is not
entirely understood why this is true.
