SEP Special Announcement Concerning Budget

Like many of you and your schools, families, and friends, SEP and the Hutchinson Center are making changes to manage a reduction in funding. Our SEP team has made some strategic decisions about how to manage during this time of significant reductions without having these cuts effect your use of kits.
Beginning July 1, 2009, SEP will be
closed on
Wednesdays.
What this means:
- The SEP staff will not be at the Center on Wednesdays, so there will be no phone or email support on Wednesdays for questions regarding scheduling or technical issues.
- You will still be able to pick up kits from the SEP Lab or drop them off during normal Hutchinson Center business hours on Wednesdays (7am-7pm) by obtaining an SEP visitor pass from the front desk.
- To make sure your email questions and requests are answered in a timely fashion, please use our group email, sep@fhcrc.org.
The 2009 Summer Session will not be affected by this scheduling change.
What you can do to help SEP save money!
- Look around your school classrooms and prep areas for items that belong to SEP and return them.
- Please be very careful when using and repacking kits - remind your students they are using the same state-of-the-art equipment as is found in labs, and their repair can be very expensive.
- We sometimes pack kits with micropipet tips that have barrier filters. These tips come to us as surplus donations, and although they look a bit different, they work just like standard tips. The barrier filters also prevent liquids from accidentally being aspirated into the pipet, which saves us repair costs.
- Please return all unused reagents and consumable supplies.
- We welcome your ideas!
