We encourage the community of science to browse these excellent resources for communicating science to the public, whether it be a speaking engagement, a lecture, or a trip to a child's grade school classroom.
Resources for Involving Scientists in Education (through the National Academies of Science). "RISE conducts workshops and publishes materials to help scientist and engineers play effective roles in improving science education, from kindergarten through high school."
BSCS (Biological Sciences Curriculum Study) has published an article titled "Scientists in Science Education", which you can download

American Association for the Advancement of Science and
