Application for the University of Washington Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program

The University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program is approved by the ACGME (#1555413151).   Although the majority of fellows elect to train for 3.5 years in both hematology and medical oncology, leading to board eligibility in both subspecialties, the program is flexible and will consider candidates who are seeking training in the separate subspecialties of either medical oncology or hematology.

All tracks will offer additional research training experiences beyond ACGME requirements and are funded via NIH Training Grants. To be considered for our program, applicants must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the U.S. (no exceptions can be made). We accept eight (8) fellows per year.

NOTE:  YOU MUST BE A USA CITIZEN OR PERMANENT RESIDENT (GREEN CARD) TO APPLY. DUE TO THE NATURE OF FELLOWSHIP FUNDING, APPLICATIONS FROM H1-B AND J-1 VISA HOLDERS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.

Applications for the Hematology-Oncology Program beginning July 1, 2011, will be through ERAS. Please follow the instructions on the ERAS website: www.aamc.org/audienceeras.xml. WE WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE NRMP MATCH.

PLEASE PROVIDE ALL INFORMATION REQUESTED BY ERAS, INCLUDING:

  1. At least three (3) letters of recommendation from faculty or professional staff of your medical school or hospitals where you have worked (one of which should include the Chief of Medicine or Residency Program Director in the hospital of your internship and/or residency.)
  2. Medical School Dean's letter of reference
  3. Medical School Transcript

NO PAPER APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

The deadline for ERAS applications is December 31, 2009. Please be sure all materials requested above are part of your ERAS file at the time you submit your application to ERAS so the reviewers will have access to complete information about you. Incomplete applications (i.e., missing letters of reference or transcripts) will NOT be forwarded to the selection committee until complete.
