Dual Mentor Fellowships

Fellowships from either an NIH training grant or FHCRC or private funds are available for postdoctoral and predoctoral trainees who wish to be involved with interdisciplinary research. The purpose of this program is to provide funds for research projects that are truly interdisciplinary in nature. The applicant must identify two mentors from different fields of research who will contribute meaningfully to the training program.  Some of the sources of funding for this program require that the project be related to cancer or HIV.  Please be sure to specify how your project is relevant to these areas of research.

NIH Training Grant Fellowships

NIH training grant funding guidelines stipulate that predoctoral students may be awarded a total of five years of NIH training support and postdoctoral fellows may be awarded a total of three years of support. Therefore, trainees who have already received this level of NIH funding are not eligible to apply for the training grant fellowships. Applicants must also be US citizens or permanent residents. Note that this training grant is managed through the UW, so your paycheck and benefits will be UW-based.

Please be sure to check the appropriate box on your application if you are eligible to receive an NIH Training Grant slot.

There are currently no available slots. For positions on the NIH-funded training grant, do NOT follow the same application instructions as the FHCRC-funded positions. Use the "Dual Mentor Application" link on the left side of this page as the cover sheet. Print abstract in 11 or 12 point font. Applications MUST be submitted to Courtney Harris and must include the application form found at the above link, along with a CV, project description, and letters of reference. All parts of the application should be printed SINGLE-SIDED. Please use paperclips, NOT STAPLES on your application.
