Team Privileges
- Access to informatics platform and reagents
With the support and leadership of the US National Cancer Institute, we have built a bioinformatics platform for protein mass-spectrometry data that is web-accessible and will be available to all teams free of charge. The bioinformatics site will provide software tools for data reduction and analysis and for data sharing among teams. With the leadership of the US National Cancer Institute, we hope to provide standardized reagents for affinity capture including well-characterized antibodies, for quantitiation including mass and isotope-labeled peptide reagents, and for other applications useful to protein biomarker discovery. The performance characteristics of these reagents will be determined and made accessible to the research community.
- Access to technical expertise
Some teams may require training in new areas of expertise. The consortium will seek to provide opportunities for sabbatical or training visits for this purpose. Opportunities may be available at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the Institute for Systems Biology, the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, or the Broad Institute.
- Seat on the steering committee
Each team will have one representative on the ICBC Steering Committee.
- Invitation to annual members meeting
An annual meeting will be held for teams to exchange and critique data and to network with colleagues from other teams.
- APEC Life Science Innovation Forum (LSIF) intercession to local governments
The Biomarker Discovery Project has been endorsed by APEC, which should encourage the governments of all 21 Pacific Rim countries to consider participation in this project. The ICBC Steering Committee and APEC will be happy to work with prospective teams to prepare materials and to meet with government officials to explain the importance of this project for the future of healthcare in each country.
