The Public Health Sciences Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle is recruiting a Cancer Surveillance Analyst/Programmer (CSAP). The CSAP will partner with project investigators to address research questions in prostate cancer prevention, screening, and prognosis with emphasis on statistics and simulation modeling. The CSAP will analyze patterns of cancer care, support development of public health policy and cost effectiveness models, and provide statistical consulting for biomarker development studies.
Many analyses will use statistical software, while model development or implementing novel statistical methods may use compiled languages. The CSAP will also document and maintain project datasets and may co-author manuscripts and present posters or abstracts at conferences.
Major duties:
A master's degree in a related quantitative field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, health economics) with enthusiasm for using these skills for public health research is required, as are excellent computing skills and experience programming in R/S+ or other statistical software. Knowledge of C/C++, Fortran, Python, or another object-oriented language is highly desirable. Excellent organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential to success in this position.
