A recent article in the Hutchinson newspaper, Center News dated May 2, 1996, presented the story on p150Ship and had a good photograph of two distinguished scientists looking at a petri dish. The photo, however, has turned into a humor contest with almost two dozen entries adding their "words" to the figure. The first of these is presented below and others will follow in the next several weeks.

THE SHIP

There once was a "Ship" in our lab,
and it seemed to be easily had.
It bound to Shc, was cloned real quick,
and declared by a grad. really fab.

"Let's publish it then in G & D,
for everyone else to see.
It looks simply great, with a sparkling fate,
and may provide me my own Ph.D."

It was published in May,
and no one could say,
that the results did not ring true.
But the student so shrewd, became totally unglued,
and wanted only BIG BUCKS for his pay.

So he flew away to a company by the bay,
and did science to tempt the fates.
He made so much more than the company store,
that he eventually bought-out Bill Gates,

Now he owns the Fred Hutch,
and we're all in a clutch,
cause we can't even buy a donut.
But boss Mario extols and even cajoles----

remember my friends--just clone-ut!!!!
