Asian American Network for Cancer Awareness Research and Training
The Asian American Network for Cancer Awareness, Research, and Training (AANCART) is a
Community Network to Reduce Health Disparities. AANCART involves investigators from the
University of Hawaii, University of California (Davis, Los Angeles, and San Francisco),
and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center/University of Washington). Each regional site
focuses on one Asian American sub-group; the Seattle site focuses on the Cambodian community.
Hepatitis B ESL Education for Chinese
Hepatitis B ESL Education for Chinese is a group-randomized controlled trial to evaluate a
hepatitis B English as a second language curriculum for Chinese immigrants. The British Columbia
Cancer Agency and multiple community-based organizations (that provide English education in the
lower mainland of British Columbia) are participating in the research.
Cervical Cancer Control in Vietnamese Women
Cervical Cancer Control in Vietnamese Women is a randomized controlled trial to evaluate a
cervical cancer screening outreach intervention (that includes the use of a Vietnamese language
DVD/video and pamphlet) to increase Pap testing use among Vietnamese American women who are
non-adherent to screening guidelines. The research is being conducted in metropolitan Seattle by
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Harborview Medical Center.
