The goals of this NCI-funded project are to develop general research guidelines for applying cost-effectiveness analysis to genetic screening for commonly acquired malignancies, and utilize the results from cost-effectiveness analyses of genetic screening tests as part of the development of clinical practice guidelines for genetic screening that are directed at primary care physicians.
To date, this project has sponsored a focus-group study to look at attitudes towards genetic screening for colon cancer among patients, their relatives, and members of the community; and, Dr. Ramsey and colleagues have begun recruiting subjects to test a web-based program for looking at preferences for genetic testing.
