This study, being conducted in collaboration with the Seattle Veterans Administration (VA), will look at specimens and blood samples collected from patients, both with and without cancer, undergoing lung surgery at the VA. This study will help scientists to try to find markers for changes that are found only in lung tumors and cancer. Researchers hope that results from this study will also be helpful in developing methods for early diagnosis and detection of lung cancer, providing better treatment for lung cancer patients, and finding ways to prevent lung cancer altogether.
