Yoga Study - Participation Requirements
What is involved in the screening process?
If you qualify for the study and are interested in participating,
you will be asked to complete a number of screening activities.
These will include:
- Sending us a screening packet (available in PDF or
MS Word)
- Attending a group information session
- Completing questionnaires about your medical history and health habits
- A clinic visit (including body measurements and collection of blood samples) at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
What sort of lifestyle changes will I be asked to make?
Not everyone will be asked to make changes right away. If you are eligible
after the screening process and interested in
participating in the study, the computer will assign you by chance
(like the toss of a coin) to one of the following groups:
- Group 1: Immediate Yoga Intervention
- Group 2: Delayed Yoga Intervention
Yoga Intervention
Participants will be expected to attend one supervised instructor-led yoga session per week at the Prevention Center and practice on their own an additional four days per week, for a total of five days per week. Women will be taught to adapt poses in a way that is safe and effective for them.
