Highlighted Features

Convenient access to library resources

Our LibX Toolbar Extension provides the following quicklinks that are always present from a drop-down menu in your Firefox browser toolbar.

Facilitate access to our full-text journal articles

When searching for articles using PubMed, the PubMed Identifer number (PMID) will now appear as a link. When you click this link, you will be sent to the Library's Get Article page, which has links to full-text options.

Search our catalog for an item found at another website

LibX places linked cues in web pages not on the FHCRC web site if the FHCRC Arnold library has resources related to that page. Whenever you see the H, click on it to look at what our library has to offer.

Alternatively, you can search very specifically for a book that you found to see if the Arnold library has a copy. For example, if you found a book on the Amazon web site, you can highlight the title of the book or other term you want to search for, right click and select Search Arnold Library catalog from the drop-down menu that appears (grey below). The results will indicate if we have the book and the status of the book. (Other sites that have this functionality, indicated by the presence of our H icon, are Google, Yahoo! Search and Powell's Books.)

The right-click context menu changes automatically depending on what is selected. For instance, if an ISBN is selected, the context menu will offer the option to search directly using that specific identifier. Currently recognized are ISBNs, ISSNs, and PubMed IDs.

Installing Toolbar

This extension works with Firefox only. It does not work with other browsers such as Internet Explorer or Safari. It has been tested with Firefox versions 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 on Windows, Linux, and Macintosh OS-X.

If the toolbar is blank after installation (does not contain links to FHCRC Library), install the most current version of Firefox, then install LibX again.
