'Shop to Make a Difference' good for retail therapy and women's cancer research

Buy a $25 'Cure Card' and get 20 percent off at select University Village stores

SEATTLE — May 3, 2010 — Those in need of retail therapy for a good cause can "Shop to Make a Difference" with the purchase a $25 "Cure Card" May 14-16 to receive 20 percent off a tantalizing lineup of University Village retailers and restaurants. All proceeds from card sales go toward women's cancer research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

The popular fundraiser celebrates its seventh year with a roster of merchants including Anthropologie, Eileen Fisher, Fran’s Chocolates, Gene Juarez Salon & Spa, Kid's Club, Mercer, Restoration Hardware and many more.

Joining the roster for the first time this year are new retailers "Life Is Good" and "The Art Study." "Shop to Make a Difference" is a great opportunity to enjoy savings while
supporting cancer research. Most of the stores will take 20 percent off all merchandise– including in-season and exclusive products that can be hard to find on sale, some exceptions apply. In addition, some retailers will also be donating a percentage of sales that weekend to the Hutchinson Center including Crate & Barrel and glassybaby.

Seattle Cancer Care Alliance's mammography van will be on site at Shop to Make a Difference Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15 providing mammography services from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Shoppers can learn more and schedule an appointment by visiting http://www.seattlecca.org/mobile-mammography-service.cfm.
